Worship and Adoration

Many of us have no problems praying and reading the Word. These are very "natural" things to do, and require "sense knowledge".
But when it comes to adoration...that becomes hard to do cos it requires a complete surrender of our own agenda, and just coming before the Lord and acknowledging His greatness.

Sometimes the words "I adore You", can be sang by mere lip service, and its a struggle to even let go and say to God, yes, I really adore You Lord. The words don't come out cos we don't adore God, and don't see how the word "adore"..such a strong word, can be used on someone we can't see and feel.

Worship is not an outward action, but it is an inward attitude that will bring us right close to God, into the Holy of Hollies. When we are able to surrender to the Lord and trust Him, I assure you that everything else falls into place.

I like the way Tommy Tenney says it in "The God Chasers". Using the analogy of himself and his daughter, he says of how he rocks his daughter to sleep. Before falling asleep, his daughter tells him of the playground accidents, or how she failed her spelling test etc. These seem like big problems to her.

"I always try to reassure her that everything will be all right in those moments because she is resting in my arms and because I love her. It doesn't matter what anyone said on the playground, and none of her little failures have any power to hurt her because she is in my arms...That is when my little girl just lays her head back to look at me with her eyes half open and give me her little smile. The only way I know how to describe it is that her face displays sheer adoration and complete security in those moments...

God wants us to do the same thing. Too often we come to Him at the end of our day and "worship" Him with permanufactured mechanics and memorized words. Then, since we are almost totally absorbed with our "playground" offenses and the temporal problems of the day, we lay back in His presence just long enough to say our string of words and deliver our wish list. Then we jump up and run off to continue our frustrated rat-race lives. Often we never seem to find that place of perfect peace."

Let us learn to truly worship God...

I'm going through a series of bible study now on the tabernacle of God. In the outer courts, that is where we know God as our saviour, we are forgiven, cleansed, and a new man is born! When we come into the Holy place, this requires a surrender of our will, intellect and emotions to God. And to enter into the Holy of Hollies, we need to worship Him and have a revelation of who He is! In the Holy of Hollies, there are no lights, only God Himself is our light. We need to wait upon Him today...we don't want to just know Him today as our saviour. Let's move into the Holy of Hollies! =) Where we can be obedient to His word, and truly say that we KNOW Him.
